WordPress is Coming Up
I am installing WordPress on my blog so I can have comments and have articles be in multiple categories. Pardon the appearance and temporary loss of the old content. As of this posting update, I believe I have migrated all of the original content except for my bicycle training log. My original blog remains online during the transition.
I found some more annoying problems with the XHTML generation with the textile2 plug-in for WordPress. The problems occur with pre-formatted text and with a span to do “caps” within a link. I’ve worked around the broken code by replacing the offending formatting. Turns out I like the replacement better anyway. Please comment if you find any usability or accessibility problems resulting from the current markup.
The task list for the site currently is:
- Update the CSS to reflect my desired layout and color scheme
- Write a couple of new articles
- Re-enable the Google AdSense ads in an attempt to generate revenue to offset hosting costs
- Write an article on the (in)accessibility of Google AdSense ads
- Transfer the existing training logs over
- Consider if it is worth adding rewrite rules to make all of the old blog links work
- Investigate the XHTML problems (way down the list for now)
