Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

What are these cancer profiles? I couldn’t possibly capture a person in the short space of a blog entry. Nor could I even capture their experience with cancer. These are more of a snapshot, a small memory of that person, usually involving their cancer.

My maternal grandfather, Ralstone R. Irvine, died from colon cancer….

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

Spencer is raising money to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Donate to support cancer survivors and Spencer’s effort to raise $25,000 for the Ride for the Roses. I finally got my act together on May 24 and started executing the fundraising plan I had been drafting for months. Spencer has been talking up fundraising all along and we are slowly reaping the benefits of that. May 24 was day one of a one hundred day plan and it went well….

Road Rash

Spencer crashed his bike today and got pretty bad road rash. Both knees got torn up a bit, his right forearm has a chunk of missing skin over an inch around, and he got a few scrapes on his left ankle and foot….

First Night Austin

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

Finally, we are going to have a First Night Austin in December, 2005. Many years ago (in the early 80s), when I lived in Boston, I was an attendee at First Night in its original environment and loved it. First Night is a community-oriented, city-wide, alcohol-free (though this is more a theoretical goal, than a [...]
