Donation Mishap

There was a small problem with the Lance Armstrong Foundation web site recently. Some online donations were not properly credited to Peloton Members. We’ve already identified one donor who gave online over the weekend to Spencer’s account, but the donation did not appear. The LAF has worked with Kintera and the problem appears to be fixed. If you donated money in the last week or two and we did not send you a thank you email, please contact me at rifter05 at robsartin dot com and give me your first and last name. I will forward the list to the LAF so they can work to properly credit your donation to Spencer’s account. Thank you for your kind support.

If you were at Austin’s Tour Watch 2005 and donated online after receiving one of our forms or got here from WGN Radio, please check for that “thank you” email. Spencer and I send an email to every online donor with a valid email address. If you didn’t get one, that means your donation may not have been credited properly.

If you haven’t donated, please donate to support cancer survivors and Spencer’s Ride for the Roses, celebrating his one year leukemia diagnosis anniversary on October 22, 2005, at the Ride for the Roses kids event.

I think it was a worthy cause as it’s doing what it’s intended to and thats help out the cancer victims. However, I was a little taken back when you said this donation did not arise. I’m sure it was a technical glitch and finally did.
    great stuff,
    kind regards

The mishap was a relatively minor glitch. It occurred shortly after the LAF switched to a new donation processing system. No donations were lost. For several days some donations were processed, but not credited to the proper Peloton Project member. The LAF Peloton project staff contacted donors who made donations that were recorded as “general fund” (rather than crediting a specific Peloton Project member) and asked if they intended to donate for a Peloton Project member. All together, I believe two donations to Spencer wound up temporarily not being credited.
