24 Hour Fitness Rides Again with Lance Armstrong

We were interviewed for stories on KEYE and “KVUE”http://www.kvue.com by the teams out covering the 24 Hour Fitness Lance Armstrong Sport Club grand opening. We had a followup doctor visit to do a wound check on Spencer’s road rash today and it looks great….

Spencer crashed his bike today and got pretty bad road rash. Both knees got torn up a bit, his right forearm has a chunk of missing skin over an inch around, and he got a few scrapes on his left ankle and foot….

Bastrop State Park Revisited

WOO HOOOOOO!!! Spencer’s counts are back up. He asked for two things: fast food and Bastrop State Park. We did both. Tomorrow he goes back to school.

We are in the return from quarantine. Spencer’s counts started up last week. White counts are still low, but his rosy red lips and high energy suggest no need for red blood cells this week, so we went adventuring. This time, we didn’t even get the car stuck….

This morning we let Spencer go to school with his port accessed (a needle in his chest and a tube hanging down from it) because he really wanted to go. He also brought his Tukong uniform so he could go to martial arts class….

Today, we spent an hour with a neuropsychologist discussing Spencer’s development status, and possible long term effects of chemotherapy. As beneficial as chemotherapy is, some of it (intrathecal methotrexate being a large suspect) can have long term neurological effects….

For the next two weeks, we get to try the fun adventure of do-it-yourself chemotherapy at home. Other than the injecting cytotoxic chemicals into my own son and the constant knowledge that improper care and cleanliness could infect my son and land him in the hospital, it’s not so bad….

Nobody is in the Hospital

It’s not that we haven’t tried, but nobody in the family has been hospitalized since Jacob got out on February 28. It’s been a very busy two weeks since then and I haven’t really had the time or energy to post an update until tonight.
